Let's see what we find...
in the Adirondacks!
We're headed to the
Adirondack Mountains of New York State!
Plan to arrive at the Wilderness Campground at Heart Lake and Adirondack Loj Program Center on Thursday afternoon/evening and soak in the magic of the Adirondacks. Quite literally surrounded by mountains, we'll make dinner at camp and take care of final preparations before we turn in. The bunk style canvas cabins are sure to bring back any memories of summer camp!
On Friday, we will hit the trail with the hopes of hiking two of our favorite Adirondack High Peaks - Algonquin and Wright. Algonquin is the second highest peak of the Adirondacks, standing over 5,000' and Wright Peak, a close neighbor in the range, stands just over 4,500′. Wright is also home to a B-47 air force bomber crash site from 1962. Evidence from the crash still remains on the mountain!
Friday evening, after regrouping from our hike, we'll head into Lake Placid for dinner at none other than Lisa G's!
Saturday is ours to enjoy. Coffee by Heart Lake, breakfast at the campsite, a stroll around the lodge grounds - we encourage you to soak it all in. After enjoying our slow morning, we'll make our way into Lake Placid where there is no shortage of activities. Swim/kayak/SUP on Mirror Lake, shop in the town of Lake Placid, visit the Miracle on Ice skating rink - the day is yours!
Sunday morning we roll out of our bunks under the cover of darkness for a sunrise hike of Mount Jo. As the sun rises, we'll have a front-seat view to the peaks we hiked on Friday!
After our sunrise hike, we'll pack up and say see ya later...
head into town for breakfast or make your way home!
